Mackinac Island, Michigan 2016

Travel has always been another love of mine and recently I had the pleasure of revisiting a gem of the Great Lakes; Mackinac Island, Michigan. It is an adorable island boasting a car-free lifestyle with gorgeous homes, hundreds of years of history, and charming hotels (including a very Grand one). Flower boxes overflow with color and streets are filled with the sounds of horses plodding along and bike bells jingling as people meander along the streets sampling some of the best fudge around. The water surrounding the island is about as clean and clear as water can get and it was absolutely sparkling on a sunny summer day as the kiddos threw rounded white stones into the splashing waves below. Our ferry ride also took us under the famed Mackinac Bridge where we got to touch both Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. We had a short visit to the island but will have to return another time to make the 8 mile bike loop around the island and discover some of the other treasures of this special place.  I hope you enjoy the photos!
