July ’19 Latest & Greatest

We are mid-summer and it is so wonderful to be warm, and dare I say, hot?? Wildflowers abound and at this midpoint, we’ve settled into our summer groove with an eye on what’s to come, but also holding on to these long, warm, golden evenings with toes freed and cold treats.  I love summer sessions- they’re so laid back and easy going. It’s typically lovely with color everywhere and golden light (even despite the bugs ;)).

Seniors, newborns, birthday milestones, and grandparent sessions! Such a fun time of year!! (PS: if you don’t know what to get your parents for birthday/holiday/etc.- it’s time with their grandkids and photos to remember it by- call me ;)).

Now is the time where things ramp up, so if you’d like to get on the calendar, please contact me today. The next season (which will for the moment remain nameless), is around the corner.

Enjoy some smiles along with the flip flops, ice cream, s’mores, and swimming a while longer!!!

Longer, warmer days, things growing outside, flip flops and skirts, delay between posts… it must be summer! Summer is a special time in Wisconsin, especially when April lasts 3 extra months. It has been wonderful to be back outside with families, enjoying the beautiful seasonal blooms, and long warm evenings.  Summer is a great time to get the clan together, and meet some sweet new babies. I love it when the kiddies get to run free through the fields and babies get all snuggled up no matter the season.

Happy to be spending lots of time out at Crossroads Community Farm as well, helping them document their story and seeing all the beauty that nature provides this season. More on that to come!

For now, here are some wonderful siblings, new babies, and love to go around. Hope you are enjoying these wonderful warm days at last!

April ’19 Latest & Greatest

I think Spring is coming… it looks like it is anyway, maybe if it doesn’t feel like it at the moment. Let’s hope so since my Spring Mini-Express Sessions will be held on May 11th.  In the meantime, it’s been all about newborns. I have been enjoying working with some adorable, sweet little babies this year and their adoring parents.

This little lady was very excited for her photo session and was ready for the camera. Even the family fur baby was ready to join in. I love how the first “baby” instinctively knows it’s time to protect the new little baby in the house.

Contact me via email or Facebook if you are interested in the Spring Mini-Express session or if you’d like to try a summer session! In the meantime, enjoy some sweet snuggles :).

March ’19 Latest & Greatest

Is it just me or are there a lot of new babies this year? Either way, it’s exciting! This family had me out for a Mama & Baby Package to get some maternity pictures and then a newborn session with their new arrival. It is so fun for me to get to know these families and be a part of such an amazing moment in their lives. A new little one is such a major life event for families and I am so honored to be there to capture it for them.

I am also proud to be listed again as one of the Best Maternity Photographers in Madison by Expertise.com .  Thank you for your support!

Without further ado, here are some sweet snuggly smiles for your day!

February ’19 Latest & Greatest

Well maybe a bit behind on the new year’s resolution for timely posts… but here it is anyway! 🙂 February is typically a quieter month where I get things in order, but it’s still a great time to plan for the year ahead. This (last) month, I did get to work with a couple of families indoors, but am also very excited to begin working with Crossroads Community Farm in Cross Plains to photograph their farm and produce for Marketing purposes.  It was fun to see what yummy veggies they still have in storage and watch as they prep the greenhouses for another year.

My background in Marketing has had me working more with small businesses for promotion, social media, events, and profile pictures as of late. Local organic food, CSA, family farms, and all things Wisconsin make my heart beat a happy tune, so working with this farm on their photography needs is super exciting for me.

Find regular updates of what I’m up to on Instagram @carolinemariephoto. Check out what’s happening on the farm with Farmer Cassie @crossroadscommunityfarm. And also consider supporting your local farmer! 🙂

PS: If you are a small business and have photographic needs, contact me and we can chat. Enjoy!

January ’19 Latest & Greatest

The new year is off to a wonderful start with families, new parents to be, and new babies. A few fearless individuals braved the cold which resulted in some lovely winter backdrops. Other indoor sessions offer a chance to use window light to provide some interesting contrast to our sessions.  A sweet 11 day old also was so alert and ready for her debut, while some parents to be shared their excitement with me. Such a fun way to begin the year and I cannot wait to follow up with the expecting family to meet their new arrival in a few short weeks!

Hope you are keeping warm this January and happy 2019!!

Biking Through Provence

Each winter I get to catch up on going through my own photos and particularly in January, I like to look back on colorful (or warm looking) photos. Last year, my husband I had the pleasure of joining a Trek Travel biking trip through the Provence area of France (specifically the Luberon and the Vaucluse). It was the perfect trip for us; a dream realized for my cycling enthusiast hubby, and a veritable photographic and gastronomic heaven for this sensory loving gal.

I’m not sure I can even do it justice, really. Having traveled to nearly 20 countries on 4 continents, I must say that Provence is one of the loveliest places in the world I’ve ever been. As my husband and I biked through olive groves, vineyards, lavender farms and fields of poppies, dotted with medieval hilltop villages, we probably said “wow” about a thousand times. (I know, we’re so profound). Every turn or hilltop panorama, every village we stopped in, every market we visited were all so incredible to us. The colors, the aromas, the vistas, the history, the food… it was nearly overwhelming.

If you know me well, you will know I also have a thing for farmer’s markets. Markets are always a must-do when I visit a new place so I can not only see what makes the place unique, but also taste the local flavors or terroir. Of course, in France, terroir has true meaning (considering it is a French word and referring to the environment or earth in which wine is grown).  Though in Provence, they’re just markets; something the residents have done for probably centuries and not something new fangled and trendy. Everything at the market is truly artisan, and again, not in a trendy throw-back sort of way, but in a real, authentic, my family has been doing this for generations kind of way. Fruit, veggies, eggs, AMAZING cheese & bread, meals, flowers, herbs, linens, soap, wine, and on and on, stall after stall of surprises and wonders. One of my favorite lunches we enjoyed was from the market in Bedoin: olive bread, the most amazing strawberries I’ve ever tasted, Provencal olives, and truffle cheese. Enjoying our finds on a picnic table at the base of the famed Mt. Ventoux, it might as well have been heaven.

Naturally I took hundreds of pictures, so it was nearly impossible to narrow down to just a few favorites, but here they are. If you’d like to see more or would like to purchase some gallery quality prints of anything I have taken, please go to https://carolinemariephoto.zenfolio.com/provence

Please enjoy these slices of color and warmth! Happy 2019!!

December ’18 Latest & Greatest

December is one my favorite times of the year, some would even say it’s “the most wonderful time”.  I wrapped up family photos just in time to get my own house in order for the busy holiday season. It is a welcome break from the heyday of the Fall season, but also a joy to receive so many holiday cards back with familiar faces smiling back at me. I love seeing the family photos that I helped to create, coming back to me and spreading joy to others. I even save the ones from family and close friends to look back on loved ones as they grow each year. Tracking these moments in time and reminiscing on sessions and events past, is part of what this season is all about. Spending time with loved ones and spreading joy to others.

With heartfelt wishes, happy holidays to you and a happy new year too! Thank you for all of the support in 2018!!  XO
